LEMING — The Atascosa Extension Wildlife and Fisheries Committee will host a Wildlife Tax Valuation/Birds and Pollinators workshop Dec. 8 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Atascosa County.
The program will be from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at 25 E. 5th St. in Leming. Registration will be from 8:30-9 a.m.
“Rick Parker from the Texas Comptroller’s office will be covering changes that will be going into effect with our agriculture and wildlife exemptions,” said Dale Rankin, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Atascosa County.
Rankin said additional presenters will include David Veale with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Dr. Maureen Frank, AgriLife Extension specialist from Uvalde, and Will Platz with Resource and Land Management.
“Mr. Veale will address the principles of a wildlife management plan, Dr. Frank will present on songbird management considerations in a wildlife management plan, and Mr. Platz will present on pollinators and their role in a wildlife management plan,” he said.
Rankin said the program will offer 3.75 continuing education credits for professional appraisers and two general Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units for private, commercial and non-commercial applicators.
The registration fee is $30, and an RSVP is requested by Dec. 2 to the AgriLife Extension office in Atascosa County at 830-569-0034.
