Who: Third graders at Graebner Elementary, parent volunteers, teachers, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Bexar County educators.
What: Learn, Grow, Eat and Go! harvesting event.
Where: Graebner Elementary, 530 Hoover Ave., San Antonio.
Why: We want to share with you the hard work that the third grade students, parent volunteers, teachers and AgriLife Extension, Bexar County agents have accomplished in the last 10 weeks gardening their own vegetables and herbs.
When: 2:45 p.m., May 26.
How: Implementing the Learn, Grow, Eat and Go! program has been a collaborative effort between San Antonio Independent School District and AgriLife Extension to provide youth a fun, positive learning experience on how to grow their own vegetables and the importance of eating them. They also learned the nutritional value of vegetables and how to easily prepare them in recipes in their classroom.The Learn, Grow, Eat and Go! program encourages better eating behaviors and inspires more physical activity among young people as a means to help address health issues, such as obesity and diabetes, affecting millions of Texans.
