East Side Row Crop Tour set for June 16 in Asa

ASA – The East Side Row Crop Tour is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon June 16 in Asa.

The tour is hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service row crop committees in McLennan and Falls counties.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. in the field. To get to the field, from the E. Leona Parkway/Farm-to-Market 434 intersection in Asa, drive south for 1.8 miles, turn left and go east on County Road 421. Drive about half a mile and the plot will be on south side of road.

Registration is $5 and includes a noon meal.

Topics and speakers, all from College Station, will be: Unmanned aerial vehicle and Corn Update, Dr. Ronnie Schnell, AgriLife Extension state cropping systems specialist; Ag Commodity Market Update, Dr. John Robinson, AgriLife Extension state cotton marketing economist; Cotton Update, Dr. Gaylon Morgan, AgriLife Extension state cotton specialist; Laws and Regulations, Dr. Don Renchie, AgriLife Extension coordinator for pesticide safety education.

Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be offered: two general and one laws and regulation. Four certified crop advisor units will be given: three in the crop management and one in professional development.
