BRYAN – A small ruminant management workshop is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Brazos County Expo Center, 5207 Leonard Road in Bryan.
According to organizers, the workshop will include various presentations by industry specialists. Preregistration is $70 until Dec. 15 and $80 for late registration. The workshop includes a local sheep and goat vendor show and lunch featuring lamb and goat.
Topics include small ruminant herd health, when to seek veterinary direction, parasite impact on small ruminants, industry organizations, Path to the Plate, cooking lamb and goat, emergency preparedness, budget development and business loans, and developing and utilizing effective websites.
Hands-on demonstrations will include hoof trimming, vaccinating, banding, disbudding, tagging and tattooing. A raffle will follow the workshop with a $200 gift card as the grand prize.
The workshop is presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Brazos Valley Small Ruminant Committee.
