HARLINGEN — A free fishing seminar will be presented from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Harlingen Community Center, 201 E. Madison Ave. in Harlingen.
The seminar is sponsored by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Harlingen Parks and Recreation Department, Valley Sportsmen Club, Laguna Madre Fly Fishing Association, Dargel Boats, The Sportsman, Cameron County and the Texas Sea Grant College Program at Texas A&M University.
“The area offers world-class fishing experiences and fishing experts at the seminar will show attendees how to increase their chances of fishing success,” said Tony Reisinger, AgriLife Extension agent for coastal and marine resources, Cameron County. “Various fishermen will discuss natural versus artificial baits as well as techniques involved in wade, surf and fly fishing. They’ll also show where to go to catch some of the most desirable species of fish.”
He said the seminar will include a display of skinny water fishing boats as well as door prizes and raffles for a custom-made fly fishing rod and spinning rod. There also will be information on fishing rules and regulations.
