AUSTIN – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Travis County will present a three-day wellness workshop series in Austin focused on promoting healthy weight in adults.
The series is free and will be presented on three consecutive Saturdays from April 7-21.
“The objective of these workshops is to provide participants with information and direction on how they can find better health through best practices and scientific research,” said Sonia Coyle, AgriLife Extension agent for family and community health, Travis County.
Coyle said the series instructor will be Bridgette Wilson, an International Sports Science Association certified specialist in fitness nutrition, certified community health worker and Master Wellness volunteer with AgriLife Extension in Travis County.
“Bridget has lived what she will be presenting at these workshops,” Coyle said. “She has reduced her weight and improved her health by applying these practices and is living proof they really work.”
She said attendees should wear comfortable clothing for the physical activity portion of the workshop.
The seminar dates, times, topics and locations will be:
— April 7 from 10:30 a.m.-noon, Healthy Meal Planning on a Budget, Little Walnut Creek Branch Library, 835 W. Rundberg Lane.
— April 14 from 10:30 a.m.-noon, Health Benefits of Physical Activity, Milwood Branch Library, 12500 Amherst Drive.
— April 21 from 10:15-11:30 a.m., Eating Healthy While Socializing, Willie Mae Kirk Branch Library, 3101 Oak Springs Road.
Coyle said while the workshops are free, space is limited so attendees should RSVP as soon as possible to Angela Reyes at the AgriLife Extension office at 512-854-9600 or amreyes@ag.tamu.edu.
