Goat Production and Marketing Workshop set for May 10 in Weslaco

WESLACO – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension are hosting a goat production workshop May 10 in Weslaco.

The free workshop will be from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Weslaco, 2415 U.S. Highway 83.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m. Lunch will also be included.

Industry experts will cover various topics about the goat industry, including: goat market overview; goat healthcare website; parasite control on goats; and identifying internal parasites using microscope.

Program speakers include Bill Thompson, AgriLife Extension economist, San Angelo; Dr. Jack Valerius, veterinary medicine, Mercedes; and Dr. Alphina Ho Watson, research veterinarian and Scott Horner, research associate, both from the Prairie View A&M International Goat Research Center.
