DEL RIO – Plans are in place for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s Val Verde County Extension Youth Summer Natural Resources Learning Series in Del Rio for incoming first through fifth graders.
The first session will be “It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Green Jay!” set for 8 a.m.-1 p.m. July 12 at Moore Park, 100 Swift St. The second session is “Dirt Day!” scheduled for 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Dink Wardlaw Agriculture Complex, 300 E. 17th St.
Emily Grant, AgriLife Extension agricultural and natural resources agent in Val Verde County, said the two sessions are meant to teach area youth about the region’s natural resources.
“Both days of our summer learning experiences will be full of hands-on learning activities,” Grant said. “As the names imply, the first session will deal with our native wildlife and the second session will deal with the soil. Both curriculums will be presented with fun in mind, enhanced with much individual and group participation.”
Grant said the sessions are limited to 40 participants, so early registration is advised. Registration is $10 per person per program. Register online at https://valverdeextension.ticketleap.com/vv-natrualresourcelearningseries/.
