WESLACO – The Small Acreage Horticulture Conference will be from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Weslaco, 2415 U.S. Highway 83.
Cost is $15 and includes lunch. Topics will include grafted tomato research, vegetable market outlook, pest management, food safety for direct sales, a marketing by taste food demonstration and an overview of the vegetable research initiative.
Speakers include Dr. Samuel Zapata, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service economist, and Dr. Juan Anciso, AgriLife Extension vegetable specialist, both based in Weslaco; Dr. Joseph Masabni, AgriLife Extension small acreage vegetable specialist, Overton; Dr. Thiago Marconi, Texas A&M AgriLife Research associate, Weslaco; Wizzie Brown, AgriLife Extension integrated pest management specialist, Travis County; and Gloria Carter and Stephanie Bowman, family community health agents, Prairie View A&M University, Waller.
