WICHITA FALLS – Two days of educational training offering Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be conducted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Wichita County March 13-14.
The training will be a part of the 2019 Ranch and Farm Show at the J.S. Bridwell Agricultural Center, 111 N. Burnett St., Wichita Falls. The meeting area is at the southeast corner of the building.
The fee is $15 for one or both days. The March 13 program is crop oriented, while the March 14 program is ranch oriented. Each day will offer three continuing education units.
March 13 will begin at 7 a.m. with a breakfast and the annual awards program, followed by registration at 8 a.m. and the program from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The morning schedule includes updates from Eileen Vail, U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service, Iowa Park; Albert Lopez, Farm Service Agency, Iowa Park; and Trey Berend, Texas Farm Bureau, Wichita Falls.
A special two-hour auxin training will begin at 10 a.m. with Dr. Scott Nolte, AgriLife Extension state weed specialist, College Station.
Following lunch, Jason Johnson, AgriLife Extension economist from Stephenville, will present a market update, and Adam Henry, Texas Wildlife Services wildlife damage biologist from Fort Worth, will discuss wild hog control options.
March 14 begins with registration at 8 a.m., and the program will run from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
The morning schedule will cover laws and regulations, Henry Krusekopf, TDA, Dallas; forage options for winter, Michael Trammel, Noble Research Institute, Ardmore, Oklahoma; and erosion and the importance of perennials, Vail and Trammel.
Following lunch, Bob Lusk, pond expert from Whitesboro, will discuss stock pond management and weed control.
