DEL RIO — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is starting a new Facebook Live series on lawn care, featuring a new lawn care topic each Monday, beginning March 25.
The series will run on the AgriLife Extension – Val Verde County Facebook page at https://tinyurl.com/y4tmuvo5. Series programs will start at 6:30 p.m. each Monday, with each program expected to last between 20-30 minutes.
“Starting next Monday, we will be having four Facebook Live sessions on lawn care,” said Emily Grant, AgriLife Extension agent, Val Verde County. “They will run each Monday through April 15 and focus on a different aspect of lawn care. AgriLife Extension turfgrass specialist Dr. Becky Grubbs will be the featured speaker, and she’ll be providing the information you need to get and keep your lawn looking its best as we head into spring.”
The four sessions are Mowing 101, Irrigation 101, Fertilization 101 and Pest Identification 101. Participants who choose to take a short evaluation after the program will be entered to win one of two soil test vouchers from AgriLife Extension’s Soil, Water, and Forage Testing Laboratory.
“The course will provide viewers with some key tips and tricks to maintain a healthy lawn this season including appropriate mowing, irrigation, fertilization and pest management,” Grubbs said. “Though the sessions won’t be as long as a traditional seminar, our goal is to provide just enough information that viewers leave having learned something new – and have a greater understanding of what to be mindful of when they are making management decisions.”
