COLLEGE STATION – The Leach Teaching Gardens at Texas A&M University in College Station will celebrate its first birthday June 8 with a full slate of family activities.
The free event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the gardens located at 600 John Kimbrough Blvd. Free guest parking will be available in Lot 97.
“We want everyone in the community to come out to this family friendly event to experience the Gardens,” said Michelle Abney, Leach Teaching Gardens education coordinator. “I’m certain people will be inspired by the flowers and trees and just fall in love with this beautiful public garden here at Texas A&M.”
Face painting, plant necklaces, a bubble station and lawn games are just a few of the many activities planned, according to organizers.
Larry J. Ringer Library volunteers will be leading story time at the Mexican Heritage Garden. Junior Master Gardener leaders will offer hands-on learning activities and the Brazos County Master Gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions.
