Wildlife Expo set for Aug. 24 in Matagorda County 

BAY CITY — The first annual Upper Gulf Coast Wildlife Expo will be held Aug. 24 at the Wharton County Junior College, 4000 Ave. F, Bay City.

The free event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and RSVPs are required by Aug. 21 to 979-245-4100. Late RSVPs will not be accepted. 

Sessions will include: 

  • Deer/Waterfowl Habitat Management and Prescribed Fire, Todd Pilcik, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department private lands biologist, Bay City.
  • Carbon Sequestration, Azure Bevington, Ph.D., Texas Coastal Exchange chief scientist, High Island. 
  • Texas Land Trends, Charles Gilliland, Ph.D., Texas A&M Real Estate Center research economist, College Station. 
  • Deer Necropsy, Bob Dittmar, Ph.D., TPWD state wildlife veterinarian, Austin.
