SAN ANGELO — A series of garden-to-table workshops will be presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service over consecutive Thursdays in October. The events will feature tastings and recipes and will be held at the Tom Green 4-H Center, 3168 N. U.S. Highway 67 in San Angelo.

The cost is $75 for the series of four, or sessions may be purchased individually at their respective prices. RSVP in advance of each session to 325-659-6522.

The first three workshops in the series will be taught by Allison Watkins, AgriLife Extension agent for Tom Green County. The cost is $20 per class.

The final class in the series will be taught by Courtney Redman, AgriLife Extension agent for family and community health, Tom Green County. The cost is $30, and attendees will be making salsa or jam to take home in Redman’s workshop.

“These will be great opportunities to learn more about growing food in your own backyard, and then what to do with it after you grow it,” said Watkins. “There will be recipe demonstrations and tastings at each of the sessions.”

The dates and topics are as follows:

  • Oct. 3 – Fruit Trees in the Landscape.
  • Oct. 10 – Vegetable Gardening.
  • Oct. 17 – Growing and Utilizing Herbs.
