Fisher County Ag Day set Sept. 25 in Roby

ROBY — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will be holding Fisher County Ag Day on Sept. 25. The event is presented by the AgriLife Extension office of Fisher County and the Upper Clear Fork Soil and Water Conservation District.

The event will run from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at First Baptist Fellowship Hall, 108 S. College St. in Roby.  Registration starts at 8 a.m.

There will be three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units available: one general, one laws and regulations, and one integrated pest management.

“We’re excited to be working with Upper Clear Fork SWCD to be able to bring our community this ag day,” said Nick Dickson, AgriLife Extension agent for Fisher County. “We hope our local community will come out and take advantage of the group of experts we’ve assembled to speak on a wide range of agricultural topics.”

Scheduled topics and speakers include:

  • Field Day at County Test Plot – Reagan Nolan, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension agronomist, San Angelo.
  • Soil Health – Kelly Attebury, U.S. Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service Resource soil scientist, Lubbock
  • Why Liquid Feed? – Jonathan Hjelmervik, Stand Alone Feed, Rotan.
  • Range in the Rolling Plains  – Matt Coffman, USDA- NRCS Grazing Land Coalition grazing specialist, Snyder.
  • Farm Service Agency Updates- Dennis Cumbie, Fisher County USDA- FSA county executive director, Sweetwater.
  • Laws and Regulations – Jason Jones, Texas Department of Agriculture inspector,  Abilene.
